Costco是美國(guó)排名前六的倉(cāng)儲(chǔ)式零售商，其家具和家用類(lèi)產(chǎn)品的銷(xiāo)量非常高。自2001年開(kāi)始，Costco即開(kāi)始對(duì)供應(yīng)商進(jìn)行社會(huì)責(zé)任審核。初的合作者是美國(guó)公證行，社會(huì)責(zé)任領(lǐng)域的開(kāi)拓者CSCC。CSCC成立于上世紀(jì)90年代，是早在美國(guó)即發(fā)展中國(guó)家進(jìn)行社會(huì)責(zé)任審核的機(jī)構(gòu)。
后來(lái)CSCC被STR收購(gòu)，現(xiàn)在STR又被美國(guó)認(rèn)證巨頭UL集團(tuán)收購(gòu)。但其社會(huì)責(zé)任審核驗(yàn)廠業(yè)務(wù)并沒(méi)有受到影響，而是借助不同的平臺(tái)發(fā)展壯大。目前有來(lái)自歐美的200多個(gè)大型零售商和品牌商選擇UL-STR作為其供應(yīng)鏈審核合作伙伴。
